I absolutely loved this book, narration style, plot, characters, dialogues and storyline, everything came together to make this a truly enjoyable read.I would love to see more of this author, definitely a recommendation from me!
I had to stop reading this book after 1/3 through because it was too frustrating how weak the main characters were. The heroine had no stability in her personality and went from hating to loving to hating her husband 5 times on each page. He was brutal, but a promise and a kiss would set her heart pounding again. I dont understand why men can get away with harsh and abusive behaviour in novels like this. It would have made more sense for me if she was consistant in not liking him, and he had to win her over by changing his behaviour for good. The constant back and forth was too much.
Manchmal denke ich, dass es offensichtlich zwischen dem 15. und 17. Jahrhundert nur Heilerinnen und Hebammen gegeben hat, alle wurden als Hexen beschimpft und verbrannt oder zumindest angeklagt.So auch hier, der Held eilt zur Rettung herbei, alles wird gut.An sich wäre die Grundidee der Geschichte, dass die Tochter eines Clanführers aus politischen Gründen den Clanführer eines anderen heiraten muss, mit allen Wirrungen und Irrungen, Verrat und Intrigen, samt korrekter historischer Hintergründe und einer Portion Humor und Romantik ausreichend gewesen. Warum es nun auch noch (mal wieder) eine Heilerin und dann die Anklage wegen Hexerei sein musste...Vielleicht zu viel gewollt und auch etwas schlecht recherchiert, denn im 15 Jahrhundert trugen Frauen in den Highlands sicher keine Petticoats, die Kilts kamen auch erst etwas später, soweit ich weiß.
Im Stil von Groschenromanen gehalten, zieht sich die Handlung endlos hin, bis es dann nach vielen Missverständnissen zwischen den Liebenden, Errettung der Guten und Bestrafung der Bösewichte natürlich das erwartete Happy End gibt. Echt langweilig, woran auch die Verlegung der Handlung in die schottischen Highlands nichts ändern kann. Die Brüder Grimm hätten die Geschichte auf zwei Seiten gepackt, was völlig ausreichend gewesen wäre.
Historischer Roman über eine junge Schottin, die zwangsweise mit dem Fürsten eines feindlichen Clans verheiratet wird. In dessen Burg lernt sie Verrat, Feindschaft, aber auch Vertrauen kennen. Romantisch.
